OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss used a four-run third inning and a strong pitching performance by freshman Cody Satterwhite to get past Vanderbilt 5-1 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Swayze Field.

The Rebels (12-7) tied the series at 1-1 with the rubber game scheduled for later this afternoon.

The loss snapped the Commodores (12-7) six-game winning streak.

Satterwhite (4-0) scattered seven hits over seven innings of work and allowed just one run with four strikeouts and three walks.

Justin Henry and C.J. Ketchum had back-to-back RBI doubles for the first two runs of the four-run third inning that was capped off by Zack Cozart’s two-run homer to left.

The Commodores got on the board in the fourth on a RBI single by Alex Feinberg.

The Rebels added another run in the fourth on a RBI single leftfielder Jon Jon Hancock.

Matt Buschman (2-2) went the distance on the mound for VU in the loss, allowing five runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Ryan Davis and Pedro Alvarez led Vanderbilt with two hits each, while Justin Henry led Ole Miss with two hits as well.
