Bowlers go 3-1 on Day One of Music City Classic

3/18/2006

NASHVILLE, Tenn.

— The Commodores went 3-1 on the first day of the Music City Classic at Pla Mor Lanes.

After playing four strong games, including wins against Arkansas State and Alabama A&M, the Commodores were unable to keep up the momentum against Wisconsin-Whitewater and dropped their final contest of the day.

The ‘Dores racked up a 997 pin average, the fourth highest for the day.

Michelle Peloquin led the team with 1133 pins and was fourth overall at the tournament, followed by Mandy Keily, who notched 1044.

“Peloquin and Keily bowled very well,” VU Head Coach John Williamson said.

“All five freshman did a decent job. We battled for four games but the fifth got away. That’s one of the pains of having a young team, is that there are going to be mental lapses. But going 3-1 on the day is pretty good.”

The Commodores will return to action tomorrow for the final day of the Music City Classic at Play Mor Lanes beginning at 9 a.m.
