Men’s Golf Day One at Hall of Fame 3/17/2006
Commodores in 14th After Day One at Hall of Fame HUMBLE, Texas — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team stands in 14th place after day one of the Hall of Fame Invitational. Freshman Jon Curran, in a tie for 27th place at four-over, leads Vanderbilt’s individuals through the first 18 holes. Luke List shot a first-round 78 (+7), one stroke ahead of teammate Tyler Matthews. At nine-over par, Dos Goldsmith was the fourth Commodore to score on Friday at the Redstone Golf Club. Texas posted a five-over-par 293 to grab a one-stroke lead. Oklahoma State shot 294 to sit in second while East Tennessee State is two shots back of the Longhorns at seven over. Oklahoma comes in at fourth and is followed by Purdue and South Carolina-Aiken – who are tied for fifth. Clemson is in seventh. Arizona, Georgia, Texas A&M and TCU are in a four-way tie for eighth. Arkansas and New Mexico are tied for 12th. Vanderbilt is 14th and followed by tie for 15th between Duke and Wake Forest and 17th-place Guilford. Anthony Kim of Oklahoma is the individual leader by four strokes with a first-round 67. Kim’s 67 leads the field individually by four strokes over Vegas, who at 71 is the only other player under par. Davies, Martin, Shaw and Arkansas’ Eric Shriver are tied for third. The top 10 is completed with a seventh-place tie between Bell, Bronson Burgoon of Texas A&M, Leon, McNamara, Clemson’s Stephen Poole and Clint Smith of South Carolina-Aiken.
