Men’s Golf Underway at Seminole Intercollegiate 3/5/2006
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Junior Luke List was the lone Commodore under par on Sunday, leading the Vanderbilt men’s golf team into a tie for 11th place in the first round of the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Golden Eagle Country Club. List stands in a five-way tie for fifth place at two-under after day one of the three-day event, played on a par-72, 6,635-yard layout. As a team, the Commodores are nine-over, tied with the College of Charleston for 11th place in the 13-team field. East Tennessee State leads the field with 36 holes left to play. The Buccaneers shot a six-under 282 to hold a one-stroke advantage over North Carolina. Individual leader Dustin Johnson, who shot a six-under 66 on Sunday, helped his team into third place. Johnson leads his nearest competitors by three strokes after the initial 18 holes. Freshman Jon Curran posted a three-over 75, with sophomore Brett Lange and junior Dos Goldsmith also scoring for the Commodores (four-over 76). Senior Will Armstrong’s 10-over 82 was not counted in Vanderbilt’s team score. The tournament continues Monday with 18 holes and finishes with a final 18 on Tuesday. Seminole Intercollegiate Fin.
