3/4/2006 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Commodores dropped their SEC season opener on the road against Alabama (4-3) on Friday. Though it was a tough loss, the Commodores did find success in the doubles point, which they dropped in both contests last weekend. 36th ranked tandem Andy Mack/Evan Dufaux was the first team to notch a win (8-6), followed by Ryan Preston and Nathan Sachs (9-8). The Commodores were unable to keep their momentum going in the singles round, beginning with a loss from Nathan Sachs, 6-1, 6-2. The Tide’s Dan Buikema defeated Nik Cromydas at No. 5, breaking Cromydas’ undefeated 8 match run. Evan Dufaux fell at No. 2 sinlges, 6-2, 6-2, putting the Tide up 3-1 overall. Andrew Felsenthal clinched the match for Alabama when he defeated Jordan Magarik 6-3, 6-2. Ryan Preston notched a point for the ‘Dores when he ended Joseph Jung’s 15-0 winning streak in a straight set win, 7-5, 6-3 in the last singles match of the night.
