VU Seventh at LSU/Cleveland Classic 3/3/2006
BATON ROUGE — Vanderbilt’s women’s golf team had a difficult day Friday during the first round of the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic. The Commodores were 20-over par over the par 72 Cleveland Club of the LSU University Course and were ninth in the 18-team field. Freshman Jacqui Concolino once again led Vanderbilt’s contingent, shooting three-over 75. Concolino, who won her last time out in Arizona, made the turn at plus-one and had three bogeys against one birdie on the backside. Head Coach Martha Richards Freitag missed Friday’s round suffering from the flu but she indicated that she was better late Friday afternoon and expects to be back on the course Saturday. Defending tournament champion Chris Brady shot 76 with two bogeys on each side against a single birdie. Kristen Svicarovich and Liebelei Lawrence added 78’s while Amber Lundskog shot 81. Virginia leads the team standings at six-over par with host LSU and Auburn close behind. Jennie Arseneault and Garrett Phillips are on top of the leader board with two-under par 70’s. Concolino is in a logjam for 21st place. Complete results are on golfstat.com. |
