Men’s Tennis Open SEC Season the Road

3/2/2006

The men’s tennis team is kicking off SEC season and Vanderbilt’s spring break in the exotic destinations of Tuscaloosa and Auburn, Alabama.

On Friday, the Crimson Tide (3-3) will host the Commodores (5-3) for both schools’ SEC kick-off match. Both teams will be looking to rebound from consecutive losses last week.

The Tide dropped their most recent matches to Michigan (6-1), Georgia Tech
(6-1) and Florida State (5-2).

Alabama’s No. 1 singles player Joseph Jung currently holds the longest dual- match winning streak in the SEC, staying undefeated since March of 2005.
Jung (6-0) will most likely face Vanderbilt’s Ryan Preston (7-1) at Friday’s contest.

On Sunday, the Commodores will take on the Auburn Tigers (6-2) in Auburn. In 2005, the ‘Dores fell to the Tigers (4-3) in Nashville.

The Commodores dropped two matches last weekend to Minnesota (4-3) and Rice (4-3). The loss of the doubles point cost the Commodores both matches, despite line up shuffling in the second contest.
