Hoops Takes Last Road Trip to Ole Miss 2/28/2006 Vanderbilt makes its last road stop of the regular season Wednesday when it travels to Ole Miss for a 7 p.m. CT contest. The game will not be televised. The Commodores (15-10, 6-8 Southeastern Conference) have won three of their last five games and are looking to continue to build momentum for the SEC Tournament March 9-12 in Nashville. Vanderbilt rallied from a nine-point deficit with 6:40 remaining to edge South Carolina, 57-56, Saturday in Columbia, S.C. Dan Cage hit consecutive 3-pointers in less than a minute and Derrick Byars converted a layup with 1:36 to help secure the Commodore win. Cage scored a team-high 13 points while Shan Foster netted 11 points and Byars added 10 points. Ole Miss (14-13, 4-10 SEC) suffered a 58-54 setback at home to Auburn on Saturday. Dwayne Curtis led the Rebels with 18 points and 10 rebounds in defeat. The loss was the third consecutive setback for Ole Miss. Vanderbilt leads the series 67-38 overall, having won the last four meetings. Ole Miss owns a 27-19 lead in Oxford. The Commodores play their regular season finale at home Saturday against Tennessee at 1 p.m. CT. |
