Men’s Tennis Look to Continue Wins at Currey

The Commodores will defend their undefeated record at the Currey Tennis when they host Minnesota and Rice this weekend.

Following the women’s tennis match, the No. 41 Commodore men will face No. 40 Minnesota on Saturday around 2:30 p.m.

The Gophers (2-5) last played Virginia Commonwealth in Virginia, and fell to the Rams (5-1). The team was led by D.J. Geatz who dropped No. 1 singles 6- 4, 6-2. Andres Osorio and Sion Wiklins played No. 1 doubles and fell to VCU (8-6). The only win of the night came from No. 3 singles player Osorio (6-2, 6-2).

On Sunday, the Commodores will take on No. 43 Rice University (4-3) at 12 p.m.

The Owls dropped their last match to Miami (6-1) in Houston. Josh Cohen notched the only singles win for the Owls at No. 3. 37th ranked doubles team Robert Searle and Tony Haerle earned a win at No. 1 doubles (9-7), but the Owls couldn’t seal another win to grab the point.

The Commodores (5-1) defeated Butler (6-1) at the Currey Tennis Center last Sunday. No. 2 doubles pair Andy Mack and Evan Dufaux improved their overall record to 6-0 when they defeated Butler’s Aker/Bartish (8-6). The win helped the duo make their ITA doubles debut at No. 36.

Following this weekend, the Commodores will begin their SEC campaign on the road against Alabama and Auburn.
