“I thought we did a good job tonight, especially when it came to checking out. Kentucky came into the game No. 1 in offensive rebounding. We stressed that going in and we had more offensive rebounds tonight.”
On Vanderbilt’s trapping defense: “Jen Risper made a big difference tonight. She was really aggressive in our traps. We were able to force a lot of turnovers.”
“We were so concerned coming in about living and dying by our 3-point shooting that we made it a point to go inside a lot in the first half — maybe too much. In the second half we tried to move the ball around more and go inside only so much. We were able to cut our turnovers in half.”
On the importance of this game for seeding in the SEC Tournament: “Our players do a good job of not looking at those kinds of things. At some point in the future they can look at the big picture, but that’s really something more for the coaching staff and media to look at.”
On Carla Thomas: “Carla Thomas has been sick and did not practice the last two days. I was concerned at half time because we were committing so many turnovers. In the second half she slowed down because her body got tired. She was able to get more into the flow of the game. She hit some big shots in the second half.”
On Nicole Jules: “Nicole is a senior who was stepping up and posting up so hard and so low. She got their post players in foul trouble. I was so pleased with her tonight.” |
