Concolino is SEC’s Golfer of the Week 2/23/2006
The Southeastern Conference announced that Vanderbilt freshman Jacqui Concolino is the Golfer of the Week. Concolino took home Medalist Honors from the Arizona Wildcat Invitational last weekend. The field featured many of the top rated individuals and 15 of collegiate golf’s top 25 teams. The Orlando, Fl. freshman torched the Arizona National Golf Club with a school record five-under par 66 to go with Monday rounds of 70 and 68 to finish the 58-hole event nine under par, topping Cal’s Sophia Sheridan by a mere stroke. Concolino becomes just the second Vanderbilt freshman to win a tournament, Chris Brady being the first, and she is also the second Commodore in three years to win in Tucson. May Wood won in 2004 and had shared the prior school record at 67. |
