Men’s Hoops Hosts LSU on Retro Night 2/21/2006
For the second week in a row Vanderbilt plays host to a nationally ranked Southeastern Conference foe when No. 24 LSU visits Memorial Gymnasium Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tip off. The game will not be televised. The Commodores battled then-No. 10 Florida at home last Wednesday before falling 73-68. On Saturday, Vanderbilt moved to 14-9 overall and 5-7 in league play with a 72-55 road win in Athens. Shan Foster netted a game-high 23 points despite going 0-of-6 from 3-point range. The sophomore was 8-of-8 from inside the arc and 7-of-8 from the foul line. DeMarre Carroll added 15 points and seven rebounds. LSU (18-7, 10-2 SEC) continues to lead the SEC Western Division after claiming a 65-61 road win at Auburn on Saturday. Forward Glen Davis earned SEC Player of the Week honors on Monday after tallying 19 points and 13 rebounds against Mississippi State and 24 points and 11 rebounds at Auburn last week. He has posted double-doubles in each of the Tigers’ last five games. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 53-46, including a 31-12 advantage in Nashville. LSU has won three of the last four meetings, including an 81-68 decision in last year’s regular season finale in Baton Rouge. The Commodores will be sporting retro throwback jersey’s from the 1960s era as part of the SEC’s Throwback week. |
