Women’s Golf Currently in 15th at Wildcat Invite 2/20/2006
TUCSON–Vanderbilt’s women’s golf team was in 15th place at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational Monday when play was called on account of darkness. The Commodores were 25-over par over the long day, trailing first place Arizona State’s five-under total. Commodore freshman Jacqui Concolino had an outstanding day. The Orlando, Fl., product opened with a one-under 71 and stood two under after 16 holes when play was called off. Her three-under total is good for a fourth-place tie. The field of 18 will finish its second round tomorrow and then play a third round to conclude the tournament. All-SEC performer Chris Brady had Vanderbilt’s second-best day, firing a two-over 74 and coming back plus-five after 16. Brady, who battled a bad case of the flu on Sunday and missed her practice round, suffered a quadruple bogey eight on the third hole of her second round. Veteran Kristen Svicarovich opened with a 78 but rebounded nicely, finishing 17 holes just two-over par. Amber Lundskog started slowly but recovered to shoot 79 and Helen Richards shot 80 in her first round. Lundskog is at six-over in her 16-hole second tour while Richards has struggled. Cal’s Sophia Sheridan is atop the leaderboard at seven-under par. Complete results and tomorrow’s live stats can be found on golfstat.com. |
