Peloquin Second at Morgan State Invitational

2/19/2006

BALTIMORE- Michelle Peloquin placed second individually to lead Vanderbilt to a fourth place team finish Sunday at the Morgan State Invitational Tournament.

Peloquin was just one of two bowlers to average over 200 in a field of 114. The Enfield, Ct., freshman averaged 214, four less than Nebraska’s Lindsey Baker.

The fourth place finish did not excite the Commodores, who had begun the day in second place and were looking for a strong finish in the Baker Games. The Black and Gold went 3-2 on the day. Eighteen teams competed.

“Today was disappointing to us because we were in contention to win and were unable to produce our best effort,” said Coach John Williamson. “We lacked aggression and seemed to be hoping we wouldn’t make a mistake. There were seven teams that bowled higher Baker Games than we did today and that should not have happened. We were just never able to adjust to the different lane conditions.”

In addition to Peloquin, Vanderbilt had three other freshmen place in top 20. Kaitlin Reynolds averaged 185 to finish 16th, Mandy Keily rolled 184.6 to place 18th and Tara Kane was 20th at 182.6.
