Men’s Basketball Travels to Georgia Saturday

Vanderbilt travels to Georgia Saturday for a 7 p.m. tip off. The game will be televised by FSN South.

The Commodores and Bulldogs played two weeks ago in Nashville with Georgia claiming victory, 74-73, when Sundiata Gaines tipped in his own miss with 18 seconds remaining. Vanderbilt’s Derrick Byars led all scorers with 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. Julian Terrell added 16 points and eight rebounds. Channing Toney led Georgia with 14 points.

Vanderbilt has suffered its last three Southeastern Conference losses by an average of 3.0 points. Wednesday saw the Commodores fall to No. 10 Florida 73-68 at Memorial Gymnasium. Vanderbilt trimmed an eight-point deficit with 2:36 left to three points twice before the final horn. Shan Foster led Vanderbilt with 19 points. Terrell added 18 points and nine rebounds.

Georgia suffered a 68-61 setback at Kentucky on Wednesday. Mike Mercer led Georgia with 12 points.

Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 76-45. Georgia leads the series 29-24 in Athens. The Bulldogs have won the last five meetings in Athens.
