Vanderbilt Head Coach Kevin Stallings
Opening remarks… “There were two stories in this game: [Florida guard Corey] Brewer’s three’s and Florida’s second opportunities. I thought, for the most part, that we did a good job of competing with them inside, but I still thought that they got the better of it. Of course, if we make our free throws it helps the cause, but you’ve got Brewer, who in the league is shooting 18 percent from behind the arc, and he hits four three’s in the first half. Sometimes you get caught like that. He had a great game.”
On Vanderbilt’s play… “I would give us an ‘A’ for effort, but not an ‘A’ for performance, and certainly Florida affected that greatly. They’re not the No. 7 team in the country for nothing.”
On rebounding… “We talked all week about hitting them first and the importance of getting to the ball. We were unlucky a few times, when we would get position inside and the ball would go over our head. They had better angles and were able to beat us to some balls. You can’t give them extra opportunities, as good as they are.”
On Vanderbilt’s post-season hopes… “We’ve been ‘behind the eight ball.’ We put ourselves there when we let the game slip away against South Carolina. But we’re not going to let that effect the way we prepare on a daily basis.”
