2/13/2006 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Commodores will host MTSU on Tuesday, February 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the Currey Tennis Center. The Valentines Day dual match will be the No. 14 Commodores’ first contest since the ITA Tournament at the beginning of February. The ‘Dores dropped their first match in the tournament to No. 12 TCU 4-3, but followed the loss with two consolation wins against No. 21 BYU (5-2) and Wisconsin (7-0). Sophomore Taka Bertrand was named SEC Player of the Week for her performance in the tournament. Bertrand defeated all three of her singles opponents, including TCU’s No. 30 Anna Sydroska (6-4, 6-4). MTSU (3-2) won their most recent match against UT-Chattanooga (6-1). First Year Head Coach Alison Ojeda is a former University of Tennessee All- American in doubles and singles. Before Ojeda was hired at MTSU she served as assistant coach at Texas A&M, where she earned the 2004 Southeast Region Coach of the Year honor. “It’s always a really competitive match,” Head Coach Geoff Macdonald said. |
