KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt will search to earn its second regular season split of the week when it visits Tennessee’s Thompson-Boling Arena on Sunday, Feb. 12, for a 4:35 p.m. CT tip-off. The game will be broadcast nationally by ESPN2.

On Thursday, the Commodores avenged a Jan. 10 loss by defeating Arkansas, 64-59, at Memorial Gymnasium. Now the Dores will be looking to get even with Tennessee, who defeated Vanderbilt, 80-68, on Jan. 19 in Nashville.

In that game, the Commodores led by as many as 14 points before the Lady Vols were able to rally in the final 25 minutes and help Coach Pat Summitt earn her 900th career win. Summitt owns a career winning percentage of 83.8 percent, but the Lady Vols have lost three of their last six games.

Vanderbilt, on the other hand, is riding a four-game winning streak which includes a pair of road victories at Auburn and Alabama. Sunday’s game marks Vanderbilt’s final road contest of the 2005-06 regular season. The Commodores will close the year with three games at home before heading off to the Southeastern Conference Tournament (March 2-5) in Little Rock, Ark.

Offensively, Vanderbilt’s fire power is coming from both inside the paint and behind the arc. Sophomore center Liz Sherwood and junior center Carla Thomas are both averaging double-figures inside. Sherwood leads the nation in field goal percentage (66.8 percent).

On the perimeter, junior guard Caroline Williams is the team’s leading scorer at 13.4 points per game. Williams also leads the conference in three-pointers made per game (3.1). Her backcourt mate, junior point guard Dee Davis, is No. 1 in the SEC in assists (6.8).

The Commodores enjoy a bye week next Thursday before playing host to Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina to close out the regular season slate.
