Vanderbilt Travels to Auburn Looking for Second Straight SEC Road Win

2/5/2006

AUBURN, Ala. — The No. 21 Vanderbilt women’s basketball team travels to Auburn Sunday in search of its third consecutive win in Southeastern Conference play. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 2 p.m. CT from Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.

The Commodores (15-7) brought their conference record to 4-4 wins over Ole Miss and Alabama in the past week. The Dores have been road warriors this season, playing six of their first nine conference games away from Memorial Gymnasium. After Sunday’s matchup at Auburn, the Dores will return home to play four of their last five in Nashville.

Auburn (12-9, 3-5) had won three straight before falling at Florida on Thursday. DeWanna Bonner leads the Tigers, averaging 13.3 points per game this season.

Junior Caroline Williams leads the Commodores in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game in conference play. Sophomore Liz Sherwood currently leads the nation in field goal percentage (.675), while senior Nicole Jules is second on the team and third in the SEC in field goal percentage (.639).

The all-time series between Vanderbilt and Auburn is tied at 16-16, but the Commodores have won the last nine meetings between the schools.
