Men’s Hoops Host Georgia Saturday 2/3/2006
Vanderbilt plays three of its next four games at home beginning Saturday when it entertains Georgia. Game time is set for 4 p.m. CT. Fox Sports Net will televise the action. The Commodores (12-6, 3-5 Southeastern Conference) dropped a 69-62 decision at Tennessee on Wednesday. DeMarre Carroll (16 points, 12 rebounds) and Julian Terrell (12 points and 10 rebounds) each posted double-doubles and Derrick Byars added 12 points. Carroll continues to play well for Vanderbilt. The sophomore forward has led the Commodores in scoring in each of the past three games, averaging 17.3 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 69.7 percent from the field. Terrell, who ranks fourth in the SEC in rebounding (7.9), has scored 10 or more points in 12 games this season. Vanderbilt’s top scorer, Shan Foster (15.4 points per game), leads the SEC in 3-pointers made (3.29 per game) and is second in 3-point shooting (45.1 percent) since the start of league play. Georgia topped Alabama, 88-79, Wednesday in Athens. Four Bulldogs scored in double figures led by Levi Stukes’ 20 points and four 3-pointers. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 76-44 and enjoys a 47-12 advantage in Nashville. The home team has won the last nine games in the series. |
