Women’s Hoops Look For Wins In Alabama 1/31/2006 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The No. 21 Vanderbilt women’s basketball team travels down Interstate-65 for a pair of Southeastern Confernece games in Alabama over the next few days. The Commodores kick off the road swing on Thursday, Feb. 2, with a 7 p.m. tip-off against the Alabama Crimson Tide at Coleman Coliseum. Vanderbilt snapped a three-game losing skid by defeating league-rival Ole Miss, 68-58, on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide dropped their fourth-straight league contest on Sunday, falling to Tennessee, 89-54. The Commodores have won four of five in the series, but their last trip to Tuscaloosa ended with an 81-68 loss. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series, 18-11. Junior Caroline Williams leads the Commodores in scoring, averaging 13.4 points per game in conference play. Sophomore Liz Sherwood currently leads the nation in field goal percentage (.670). Senior Nicole Jules is second on the team and in the SEC in field goal percentage (.660). Three of Vanderbilt’s next four games are on the road before the Commodores close out the regular season with three consecutive contests at home. |
