Women’s Soccer is Div. I Fifth Most Improved 1/27/2006 The Commodores are the fifth most improved team in Division 1 play. The team improved their record in 2004 from 7-7-5 to 17-3-3 in 2006. This was thanks in part to two-time All-American Tyler Griffin who helped the team to a record 14 game shut outs. Griffin was named the 2005 SEC Defensive Player of the Year and broke the Commodore record for scoreless minutes in a season. Senior Kelei Hegg led the Commodores in scoring with six goals in 2005, followed by Lea Lafield, Sarah Dennis, Meghan Habig, and Jessica Lenze who all netted five goals. “I’m very proud of the team’s development in the 2005 season,” Vanderbilt Head Coach Ronnie Coveleskie-Hill said. “We’ve laid a great foundation and I’m looking for a very bright and productive season in 2006.” |
