1/21/2006 LEXINGTON, Kent — Commodores Ryan Preston and Nathan Sachs downed two conference contenders Friday night at the SEC Indoors tournament and will advance to the second round in Lexington. Preston defeated LSU’s Mark Growcott (6-4, 6-2), while Sachs got the win against Mississippi’s Ahmed El Tabakh (5-7, 6-3, 6-2). Junior Andy Mack fell to Auburn’s Robbert Lathouwers (7-5 (2), 6-3), but won his consolation match against Philipe Frayssinoux. Freshman Nick Cromydas dropped his match to Georgia’s Matic Omerzel (6-2, 6-3), junior Jordan Magarik fell to Mississippi State’s Ivan Bjelica (6-1, 6-4), and junior Evan Dufaux fell to LSU’s Martel Campbell (6-3, 6-4). The next consolation matches will take place late Saturday (Jan. 21) evening, while the next singles play will take place Sunday, January 22. |
