Vanderbilt Faces Mississippi State Saturday on CBS 1/20/2006
Vanderbilt looks to snap a two-game Southeastern Conference losing streak Saturday when it plays host to Mississippi State at 2:45 p.m. The contest will be televised regionally by CBS. The Commodores lead the SEC, shooting 50 percent from 3-point range since the start of league play. Vanderbilt also ranks second in scoring defense, allowing only 61.5 points a game to league foes. Vanderbilt suffered a 66-64 overtime setback to South Carolina Wednesday at Memorial Gymnasium. Four Commodores scored in double figures for the fourth consecutive conference game, led by Shan Foster’s team-high 17 points. Julian Terrell and DeMarre Carroll posted 10 points and eight rebounds each. Mario Moore added 12 points. Mississippi State dropped a 71-57 home decision to LSU on Wednesday. Nashville native Jamont Gordon led the Bulldog attack with 17 points and 13 rebounds in the loss. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 69-40, including a 40-8 advantage in Nashville and a 7-4 lead at neutral sites. Mississippi State leads 28-22 in Starkville. Mississippi State won last year’s meeting, 60-54, in Starkville. |
