1/20/2006 WARRENSBURG, MO—Vanderbilt lost a pair of hard-fought games to Arkansas State and Central Missouri Friday afternoon and ended the day of competition with two wins and three losses. The Commodores opened the day by beating Minnesota State, 930-842, behind strong efforts from Michelle Peloquin (224) and Tara Kane (208). Vanderbilt was nipped in the second game by a 951-931 margin before coming back with a win over Elmhurst College, 1,034-862. It was one of the Commodore’s highest point totals of the year with Peloquin rolling a 233 and Mandy Keily adding a strong 230. Central Missouri then topped VU by a 982-962 margin despite a 236 by Kaitlin Reynolds and a 221 by Kane. The afternoon ended on a somewhat flat note, losing to Wisconsin-Whitewater 961-866. Only Kane, with a 221, could get things going in the finale. The afternoon was essentially the opening competition for Keily, who was forced to miss all but one day of the fall season after having an unfavorable ruling from the NCAA after she transferred from Colorado State. “I was nervous in our first game,” Mandy admitted. “I felt on the outside of the team most of the fall when I couldn’t compete and it was good to compete in NCAA bowling finally.” The Commodores open play tomorrow noon (Saturday) in the Ozark Invitational, being played in Jefferson City. Saturday’s competition will consist of five team games.
