COLUMBIA, S.C. — The No. 21 Vanderbilt women’s basketball team travels to South Carolina Sunday in search of its first Southeastern Conference road win. Tip-off at the Colonial Center is schedule for 3 p.m. ET.

Vanderbilt (12-4, 1-1 SEC) is coming off a convincing 87-48 victory against Mississippi State on Thursday. Sophomore Liz Sherwood, who leads the nation in field goal percentage at 69.7 percent, led the Commodores with a game-high 22 points in the win. Junior Caroline Williams, freshman Christina Wirth and senior Nicole Jules also scored double-digits in the game.

In that game, junior Carla Thomas became only the 11th Commodore to reach 1,000 career points in her junior season. Thomas currently ranks 25th all-time in scoring at Vanderbilt.

Freshman Holly Rogers got her first start of the season against the Lady Bulldogs. She registered a number of career highs in the game, including assists (six) and steals (three).

South Carolina (9-6, 0-3 SEC) is looking for its first league win of 2006. The Gamecocks have drooped games to Tennessee, Kentucky and LSU so far this year. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series over South Carolina, 14-5, but the teams are even (4-4) in eight games played in Columbia.
