VU Student-Athletes Host Children’s Party 12/9/2005 Santa Claus came early for the first grade class from Ross Elementary School Friday. In keeping with a special Commodore tradition, Vanderbilt student-athletes held their annual holiday party for area children. Vanderbilt’s Student-Athlete Advisory Board annually collects cash donations from members of each varsity program. Working closely with the teachers at Ross Elementary, the Commodores then purchase specific gifts for each first grader. These gifts were presented in Memorial Gymnasium after a special appearance by Santa Claus, who had a strikingly resemblance football player Nigel Seaman. After the gifts were opened, the Commodore student-athletes helped the children assemble and play with their new special toys and gifts. A large percentage of Vanderbilt’s approximate 325 student-athletes were on hand for the fun. |
