Stallings Quotes 12/1/2005 Head Coach Kevin Stallings Opening Statement “I thought it was an entertaining game. Truthfully I am disappointed in our play tonight, but I am ecstatic with the win. The two teams were comparable and evenly matched. We did a poor job on the boards, though we did take care of the ball. I thought Hairston (Malik) and Byars (Derrick) were great tonight.
On the final shot by Mario Moore. “The ball went in because his attitude has been fantastic. If his attitude wasn’t good, I believe with all my heart that the shot wouldn’t have gone in. We were thinking about advancing it a little then calling a quick timeout, but decided to open the court and then Mario made the play. They couldn’t foul so the shot was unencumbered. “
On the play of Derrick Byars “He was phenomenal. Nobody is going to play like that every night (7-of-8 shooting, no turnovers). He is very capable.”
On rallying from the 11-point deficit in the second half “We went to a zone and I think it bothered them. We were more aggressive and did a much better job of getting the ball inside. Julian (Terrell) and Ted (Skuchas) did a better job down low in the second half.
On the win “Fortunately we survived it. We have had five games in 12 days. That means very little practice time. I am thankful we have a break to work on things.” |
