Men’s Soccer To Face Eastern Illinois In Missouri Valley First Round 11/7/2005 Nashville, Tenn. – Vanderbilt will face Eastern Illinois in the first round of the Missouri Valley tournament Wednesday night at 5 p.m. at Shea Stadium in Peoria, Ill. The Commodores (9-6-1) finished in a tie for third place in the conference, its highest finish in school history. They will take on tne sixth-seeded Panthers who finished the regular season at 5-9-2. VU defeated EIU, 1-0, on Oct. 30 in Charleston, Ill. That win evened the all-time series at 4-4-1. If Vanderbilt wins against Eastern Illinois they will advance to the semifinals to take on No. 2 seed Creighton on Friday at 5 p.m. Vanderbilt is 1-6 all-time in the MVC tourney, with its lone win coming against EIU in 1997. That is the only meeting between the two schools in postseason play. Host institution Bradley finished as the regular season champion and will face the winner of Wednesday night?s contest between fourth-seeded Drake and fifth-seed Missouri State on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The tournament finale is on Sunday at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on regional television by Fox Sports Midwest. Bradley will produce audio broadcasts for all the quarterfinal and semifinal games and those broadcasts will be available at www.bubraves.com. Single-session tickets for the 2005 State Farm MVC Tournament are $6 for adults and $2 for youth (K-12) and seniors, and a tournament pass is available for $10, which will provide admission to all five tournament games. Bradley University students will receive free admission to the MVC Tournament, courtesy of the Chiefs Club, by presenting their valid University IDs at the Shea Stadium ticket windows. All seating is general admission. Tickets may be purchased at the Shea Stadium Ticket Office beginning one hour prior to the start of each session, or Monady-Friday at the Robertson Fieldhouse Ticket Office. Parking is $2 and will be charged upon entering the main parking lot adjacent to Shea Stadium. |
