Omaha, Neb. Byron Dacy’s goal in the 66th minute lifted Creighton to a 1-0
win over Vanderbilt in both teams? regular season finale Saturday afternoon
at Morrison Stadium.

The Blue Jays improved to 10-4-3 overall and 5-2 in the Missouri Valley
Conference. The Commodores three-game winning streak was snapped as they
fell to 9-6-1 and 4-2-1 in league action.

Both teams seeding for the MVC tourney next week will be determined after
tonight?s action. Vanderbilt will be seeded third or fourth and will play in
the first round starting on Wednesday. If the Commodores finish third, it
will be their highest MVC finish ever.

The Commodores had to play with a man down three minutes into the second half due to midfielder Patrick Ryan receiving his second yellow card of the match, which automatically turns into a red and ejection.

“It was a disappoining game,” said Tim McClements. “The guys played hard with an unbelievable effort. The second yellow card was untimely and despite that we played really well, It was just unfortunate to not get a result as we thought we played good enough to come out with the win and a possible Missouri Valley crown. We will need to regroup for the first round of the MVC tournament on Wednesday.”

The teams played an even first half as both teams took five shots and could
not score.

Byron Dacy?s goal at the 66:18 mark came from six yards out off of assists
from Matt Allen and Tony Schmitz. The Blue Jays outshot the Commodores 9-7
in the second half, with both goalkeepers recording four saves each.
