Davis, Thomas Earn First-Team All-SEC Honors 10/25/2005 Vanderbilt juniors Dee Davis (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Carla Thomas (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) earned preseason first-team All-Southeastern Conference accolades in a vote by league coaches, the SEC announced Tuesday. Davis earned second-team All-SEC honors from the coaches and the Associated Press following the 2004-05 season. The Princeton high product lead the Commodores in minutes played and was second in the conference with 6.0 assists per game. Davis recorded three double-doubles last season, including an 11-point, 10-assist performance against Tennessee in the SEC Tournament Semifinals. Thomas joins three other student-athletes as a unanimous choice for the All-SEC first team. As a sophomore, Thomas earned second-team All-SEC postseason honors. She was second on the team in scoring (15.9 points per game) and rebounding (6.5) while leading the team in blocked shots. During conference play, Thomas averaged 18.3 points per game, good for fourth in the league. Georgia led all schools with four selections, while LSU and Tennessee each added three. The preseason All-SEC first and second teams consist of a minimum of eight players on each squad, voted on by the SEC Head Women’s Basketball Coaches. No ties were broken and no predicted order of finish was made. A complete list of the 2006 SEC Women’s Basketball Preseason All-SEC team follows. FIRST TEAM ALL-SEC Pos Ht Cl Hometown |
