Dores Win on Senior Night 10/22/2005 Nashville, Tenn. – Vanderbilt closed out its 2005 home schedule with a couple of milestone achievements in a 2-0 win over Drake in Missouri Valley Conference action Saturday night at the VU Soccer Complex. The win on “Senior Night” improved the Commodores record to 8-5-1 on the year, assuring them of a winning regular season for the first time since 1999 (10-9). The victory also put VU at 3-1-1 in the MVC, solidifying a non-losing record in conference for the first time since 2000. “The guys played hard tonight, and I was very happy for our seniors,” said head coach Tim McClements. “It was good to see their hardwork and dedication be rewarded tonight with a win in their final home contest.” Drake fell to 5-8-1 on the year and 1-2-1 in league play. Senior goalkeeper Kenny Schoeni recorded his sixth shutout of the year, breaking the school single-season mark of five. Sophomore Joe Germanese scored off an assist by John Krause in the 38th minute to give VU a 1-0 lead that held into the half. The Commodores then added an insurance goal with just over 12 minutes left when Josh Medcalf tallied his fourth goal of the year off another Krause assist. Vanderbilt held the statistical edge offensively throughout the contest with a 19-9 shot advantage. VU will be on the road for the final two regular season games of the year.
