Dennis Named to National Teams of the Week 10/5/2005 Nashville — Sophomore forward Sarah Dennis (Germantown, Tenn.) scored two game-winning goals over the past weekend. This week she has reaped the benefits. Dennis, who was already voted the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week and the Soccer America National Team of the Week. She is the first Vanderbilt student-athlete ever included on the team. Dennis tied for the team lead in goals when she scored her fifth to take a 1-0 advantage Sunday over Alabama. She is tied for the team lead in goals and leads the team in game-winners. Dennis and junior goalkeeper Tyler Griffin (Charlotte, N.C.) became the first pair of teammates to be named SEC Players of the Week, offensive and defensive respectively, in the same week. Dennis has scored three goals in her last four games and will hope to keep her good play going with a road games this Friday and Sunday at South Carolina and Florida. |
