Castle took an assist from David Kimbugwe and shot it past Commodore goalkeeper Kenny Schoeni for the game?s lone goal. The Bulldogs (4-8) then withstood a late VU (5-4) flurry to record the win. “Alabama A&M is a very athletic team that is very skilled and good individually,” said Vanderbilt coach Tim McClements. “We did a great job most of the game from a defensive standpoint, our forwards just did not get it done both offensively and on defense today.” The Commodores were the aggressors in the first half with six shots on goal, but A&M goalkeeper Mlondi Mdluli played a solid game in net with eight saves in the shutout win. Vanderbilt will be back in action next Friday to close out its three match homestand and open Missouri Valley Conference play against Bradley at 7 p.m. Alabama A&M 0-1–1 SCORING SUMMARY Goals:AAMU: Castle (1). |
