Vanderbilt Men’s Soccer Travels To Memphis

Nashville, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s soccer team will be back in action tomorrow against Memphis at 7 p.m. at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

Memphis (4-2) opened the season with four wins, but lost two games last weekend to No. 15 Creighton and Drake. The Tigers are ranked No. 25 by College Soccer News and No. 6 in the Midwest Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

UM senior midfielder Dayton O’Brien is one of 25 players selected to the 2005 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List. The award honors the top collegiate soccer player as determined by the NSCAA. Last season O’Brien earned All-American honors becoming he first Memphis player ever to be named an All-American.

Vanderbilt (3-3) went 1-1 in the Puma Classic last weekend in Nashville, defeating No. 19 Vermont before falling to Wright State in the tourney finale.

Senior forward John Krause has scored seven of the team’s 11 goals on the season and is now 10th on the school’s career goals list.

The Commodores defeated Memphis 1-0 in double overtime last year in the PUMA Classic. The Tigers hold a 11-6-2 series advantage over VU in a series that dates back to 1982.
