Commodores Jump One Spot to No. 24 9/13/2005 The Vanderbilt women’s soccer team moved up one spot in Soccer Buzz Magazine’s rankings this week to No. 24. It is the highest the team has been ranked since 1999, and the second consecutive week that the Commodores (5-1-0) have been in the national poll. The Commodores also maintained their position as the No. 4 team in the Central Region. Vanderbilt will be back in action Thursday night with a home game against Morehead St. If the Commodores can prevent MSU from scoring in the first half, junior goalkeeper Tyler Griffin has a chance to break VU’s all-time consecutive scoreless minutes record. Griffin is sitting on 406 minutes through five-straight shutouts. Christy Baringer’s school record is 450. The game, played at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex will begin at 7 pm. |
