Vanderbilt Men’s Soccer Loses To Stanford 2-0 9/11/2005 Berkeley, Calif. — The Vanderbilt men’s soccer team failed to capitalize on several scoring opportunities and fell to Stanford 2-0 in the second game of the adidas Cal Legacy Classic Sunday afternoon. The Commodores (2-2) out shot the Cardinals 16-7 and had eight shots on goal. VU was on the offensive for most of the contest and also held an 8-2 advantage on corner kicks. “I thought we played well for most of the game, we just weren’t able to convert on our opportunities,” said head coach Tim McClements. Stanford (1-2-1) got on the scoreboard at the 32 minute mark, scoring on a penalty kick by Marcus Ryan. They added an insurance goal in the 54th minute as Galen Thompson took an assist by Ryan and scored from the right side. Vanderbilt will return home to host the Puma Classic next weekend.
