Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Releases 2005-06 Schedule

Commodores Open Fall Season Sept. 19-20 at the Inverness Intercollegiate

Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Head Coach Press McPhaul has announced the schedule for the 2005-06 men’s golf campaign. Once again the the Commodores will face a challenging slate, highlighted by VU’s hosting of the Mason Rudolph Championship over Sept. 30-Oct.2.

Overall the schedule includes five fall and four spring events before culminating with Southeastern Conference Tournament and NCAA postseason play.

Vanderbilt opens its 2005-06 campaign against a strong field at the Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio over Sept. 19-20, before returning to Nashville to host the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate at the Vanderbilt Legends Club (Sept. 30-Oct. 2).

VU travels to Birmingham, Ala. for the prestigious Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate (Oct. 10-11) and then heads to Windermere, Fla. to take part in the Isleworth Collegiate over Oct. 23-25. Vanderbilt concludes the fall season in Dalton, Ga. against an impressive field of competitors at the Carpet Capital Intercollegiate (Nov. 4-6).

The Commodores open their spring season by venturing down to the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla., over Mar. 5-7. Vanderbilt finished second at the event in 2005.

Another tough field awaits the Commodores at the Hall of Fame Intercollegiate in Humble, Texas. VU makes a return trip to Awendaw, S.C., for The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate (Mar. 26-28) before closing out the spring season at the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs (Apr. 7-8).

The ‘Dores will then head to the Southeastern Conference Championships over Apr. 21-23 at St. Simons Island, Ga. Postseason play continues at the NCAA Regionals over May 18-20 at either the West Regional at Stanford, Calif., the Central Regional in South Bend, Ind., or the East Regional in St. Simons Island, Ga. The season concludes at the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships in Owings Mills, Md., at the Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Ore., over May 31-June 3. Vanderbilt will be looking for their fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA’s.
