Day One CHERRY HILLS, Colo. — Vanderbilt alumnus Courtney Wood completed her first round this morning at the United States Open and stands at eight-over par 79. Her second round begins at 2:16 local time this afternoon. Wood began slowly with six bogeys on the front side before steadying herself on the back nine. The Brentwood, Tenn., native was driving the ball well, hitting 12 of 14 fairways to stand in eighth place in the field of 156 international golfers in that category. However, her iron play was troublesome as she managed to hit only five of the 18 greens in regulation. The projected cut is at seven-over par. Three golfers, including amateur Brittany Lang, led after the first round at two-under par. |
