David Price Named to Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America Team

TUCSON, Ariz. — Commodore left-handed pitcher David Price (6-6, Murfreesboro, Tenn.) was selected to the 2005 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-America team, chosen by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Price worked his way into the starting rotation and played in 16 games while starting in 10 with a 2.73 ERA.  He pitched 69.1 innings and gave up 25 runs on 51 hits, including only 12 extra base hits.  He struck out 92 batters with a career-high 11 vs. Tennessee and Florida.  He ranks ninth in the nation with 11.9 strikeouts per game.  Opponents owned a .207 batting average against him.

Price accepted an invitation to participate in the 2005 USA Baseball National Team Trials to be held June 27-30 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The official 20-man team roster will be announced on July 1.

Price is the ninth Commodore to be named to a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American Team.  Jensen Lewis earned first-team honors in 2003, while Jeremy Sowers was a 2002 first-team selection. 

Other Commodore selections include Robert Ransom (P, 2001), Taylor Childress, (P, 2000), Karl Nonemaker (OF, 1999), Aaron Fausett (OF, 1999), Damon Yee (P, 1997), and Greg Thomas (1B, 1991).
