Jensen Lewis Named to SEC Good Works Baseball Team 5/23/2005 Birmingham, Ala — Junior right-handed pitcher Jensen Lewis was named to the SEC Baseball Good Works Team today. The Baseball Good Works Team represents 12 SEC athletes, one from each competing institution. The Good Works Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts. Lewis leads the SEC-leading Commodore pitching staff with an 8-3 record and 2.62 ERA. He has been active in many community service projects throughout the year, including the baseball team’s annual Halloween Party at the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, where the team takes candy and toys to the children who are receiving treatment at the Outpatient Center. The team carves pumpkins and also plays games. He was also part of the Vanderbilt SAAC Christmas Party, where the student-athletes spend their own money to purchase Christmas gifts for children from a kindergarten or first grade class at a local elementary school. He also participated in the annual Field Day where students from local elementary schools visit the VU campus and play games with the Vanderbilt athletes. The SEC sponsors a Good Works Teams for all 20 sports it sponsors. |
