ATHENS, GA. — The No. 13 North Carolina women’s tennis team captured the doubles point and three singles wins en route to a 4-0 win over No. 4 Vanderbilt at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.

“I commend North Carolina,” said Vanderbilt Head Coach Geoff Macdonald. “We were flat today and we couldn’t get any traction on this match.  Overall, it’s been a fantastic year.  We have overachieved this year and today we just had a bad match today.  It happens.”

The Tar Heels nabbed the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3.

At No. 1, VU’s combination of Audra Falk and Amanda Taylor fell to the UNC duo of Kendall Cline and Aniela Mojzis, 8-4.

The Tar Heels captured the point with their 8-2 victory at the third slot.

UNC grabbed their second point of the match at No.1 where Mojzis knocked off Falk, 6-2, 6-1.

The Tar Heels went on to grab the matches at No. 5 and 6 to garner their third and fourth points and claim the match and their spot in the Elite Eight.

The 2005 Commodores finish the season with a stellar overall record of 22-6.  Coach Macdonald watched five of his Dores tally 16 or more singles wins this season.
