Svicarovich Opens with 79 at NCAA Golf 5/17/2005 SUNRIVER, Ore. – Vanderbilt’s Kristen Svicarovich shot eight-over par 79 in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship today. The Commodore sophomore had qualified for the championship as an individual and was in the first group of the day. Svicarovich, a native of Hillsboro, Ore., began her tournament with a bogey on No. 1 but then settled down to record eight consecutive pars to make the turn at plus-one. Things went awry at that point with four straight bogeys before getting a par on the par 4 14th. She bogeyed 15 and closed with a double-bogey six on No. 18 to complete a rough back nine.
