List, VU Finish Third at UK Derby Invitational
5/10/2005 Lexington, Ky. – Sophomore Luke List shot 210 which was good enough for third place, but Vanderbilt shot 306 Tuesday as the Commodores finished third at the Kentucky Derby Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky at the University Club of Kentucky.
List fired a 72 in the final round as he finished six-under par for the tournament. Mark Donnell and Dos Goldsmith tied for ninth after shooting 10-over par 226. Will Armstrong was 12th with a 227 and Brett Lange placed 19th with a 243.
Kentucky turned in a 284 on the final day of competition to win the tournament posting an 856, which was 32 strokes better East Tennessee State. ETSU edged Vandy by one stroke for second place after posting an 888 in three days. VU shot an 889 in three days. ETSU’s Rhys Davies captured the individual title after firing a 206 which included a course-record nine-under par 63 on day one. He finished 10-under par for the tournament. UK’s John Holmes finished seven-under par 209 after shooting 73 in the final round.
Vanderbilt will now start to get ready for the NCAA East Regional next weekend May 19-21 in Nashville at the Golf Club of Tennessee.
