Men’s Golf Wraps Up Play at SEC Championships

St. Simons Island, Ga. —Vanderbilt senior Mark Donnell matched his tournament best 74 on the final day of the SEC Championships Sunday, but the Commodores ended up 12th after the three-day tournament.

Donnell, who finished second in this event last year as a junior, posted rounds of 74 on back-to-back days to finish tied for 18th. He ended up 14-over par for the tournament.

Sophomore Luke List, who was fourth heading into Sunday’s final round, had a rough day. After posting rounds of 73 and 70 on the first two days, List shot an 81 to 14-over par and tie Donnell for 18th place.

Kentucky edged Auburn for the team title posting a 35-over par 875 edging Auburn by two strokes.

Tennessee’s David Skinns turned in a 68 to finish even par for the tournament and claim medalist honors. Georgia’s Richard Scott was second, one-over par and one shot back.

Vanderbilt’s Dos Goldsmith shot 75 Sunday, giving him a 19-over 229 total and a tie for 37th place. Other Commodore results included a 79 by Will Armstrong, an 84 by Brett Lange. As a team, VU turned in a team total of 77 over par 917.

The Commodores will compete in the UK Derby Invitational in Lexington, Ky., May 9-11. The NCAA Regionals began May 19.
