Women Golfers Tied for Ninth at SEC

4/16/2005 TUNICA, MS–Kristen Svicarovich shot her second straight 75 but it wasn’t enough to keep Vanderbilt from slipping further off the pace after the second round of the Southeastern Conference Golf Championship.
The Commodores shot 316 Saturday, eight shots higher than their opening round, and are tied with Kentucky at 48-over par. Auburn is 17-over to lead the event, three strokes better than LSU.
Nicole Hage of Auburn and Jessica Shepley of Tennessee are knotted at one-over par 145 for individual honors. Svicarovich began her round on No. 10 with a birdie.  She double-bogeyed the par five 14th and bogeyed No. 15 to make the turn at plus-two.  After a bogey on No. 2, she eagled the par 5 third hole to highlight her round. She is at 150, six-over for the tourney. Vanderbilt’s Chris Brady, who opened with a 76, had a good start to her round, standing even after her first eight back-side holes.
However, she suffered three double-bogeys on her next five holes and finished with an 80. Helen-Rose Richards also posted an 80, one better than Julie Bartholomew.  Liebelei Lawrence shot 84. The tournament concludes Sunday. The championship is being played at the Tunica National Golf & Tennis Club. Admission is free.
