Commodores Hit the Road for SEC Championships 4/14/2005 Sea Island, Ga. — Vanderbilt heads to the 2005 Southeastern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga. The Commodores finished fourth at the tournament last season. The field features five of the nation’s Top 20-ranked teams in (2) Georgia, (6) Auburn, (7) Florida, (10) Tennessee and (16) Kentucky. The three 18-hole rounds will be Friday through Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m. Vanderbilt will take senior Mark Donnell, junior Will Armstrong, sophomores Luke List, Dos Goldsmith and freshman Brett Lange. Donnell had his best performance of his career at last season’s SEC Championship. He finished tied for second at two-under par. List, who is fresh off an appearance in last weekend’s Master’s, will be among the favorites for individual medals. He currently ranked 35th nationally according to Golf Week. Last year he tied for eighth, three-over par, at the SEC Tournament. Georgia is the host school for the tournament, which is being held in St. Simons Island for the second straight season. Georgia captured the 2004 SEC Championship. Florida, Auburn, Vanderbilt and South Carolina rounded out last season’s top five.
