VU KO’s No. 4 Georgia 7-0 4/10/2005 The No. 6 Vanderbilt Commodores nabbed a huge conference victory Sunday as they upset No. 4 Georgia in Athens, 7-0. “It was unbelievable,” said Assistant Coach Meike Babel. “Anytime you beat a team 7-0 at their place, that’s a statement. But to come out and beat Georgia 7-0, that’s phenomenal. The girls just came out and played well today. It was huge.” In the doubles draw, the Dores chalked up the first point of the day with wins at Nos. 2 and 3. At the second position, Taka Bertrand and Amanda Fish dropped UGA’s combo of Kelley Hyndman and Evgenia Subbotina, 8-3. Vanderbilt’s duo of Caroline Ferrell and Annie Menees kept their perfect record intact after clinching the doubles point over UGA’s Natalie Frazier and Jitka Schonfeldova in a thriller, 9-8 (7-5).
