Holwerda, Earley, Ramsey Honored by the Kiwanis Club of Nashville 4/8/2005 Vanderbilt’s Jason Holwerda, Ashley Earley and Abi Ramsey were honored by the Kiwanis Club of Nashville Friday at the Vanderbilt Stadium Club. Holwerda received the 16th annual Roy Skinner Award while Earley and Ramsey received the 11th annual Vanderbilt Women’s Basketball Award. Both awards recognize Vanderbilt student-athletes who exhibit excellence in leadership, perseverance and performance to the best of their potential during their career. Holwerda finished his career ranked among Vanderbilt’s Top 10 players in career assists (313) and steals (138). He ranked first in the Southeastern Conference with a 2.45-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio during league play for the 2005 season. He also was named to the 2004 and 2005 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll and the 2003 and 2005 SEC Good Works Team for his work in the Nashville community. Earley completed her career ranked fourth all-time in field goal percentage (.578), 10th in career rebounds (811) and 15th in scoring (1,382 points). A First Team All-SEC performer, Earley was nominated for the John R. Wooden Award and the Naismith Player of the Year award for 2005. Earley also earned recognition to the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll and was a member of the SEC Good Works Team. Ramsey set school records for 3-pointers in a game (eight), season (87) and career (252) during her career at Vanderbilt. She led the SEC in 3-pointers made and ranked fifth with a .410 3-point shooting percentage during her senior campaign. She also ranked fifth in school history with a .406 3-point shooting percentage. |
