Dores Fall 5-2 in Knoxville 4/8/2005 The No. 6 Vanderbilt women’s tennis team dropped its second SEC match of the season, 5-2 to No. 23 Tennessee at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville. The Dores claimed the first point of the day with a sweep of the doubles draw. VU’s combo of Amanda Fish and Taka Bertrand garnered the first win of the day for Head Coach Geoff Macdonald’s club, defeating UT’s duo of Melissa Schaub and Ghizela Schutte, 8-2. At the top spot, VU’s tandem of Audra Falk and Amanda Taylor dropped their Volunteer opponents and clinched the doubles point for the Dores, 8-4. Vanderbilt’s Annie Menees and Caroline Ferrell improved to 7-0 on the year with their 8-4 victory over Ashley Robards and Daron Moore at No. 3. In the singles draw, the Vols captured the first three matches with victories at Nos. 6, 3, and 4. The Dores closed the gap to 3-2 with Fish’s 6-2, 6-2 victory at the second spot. With the win, the Scituate, Mass. native continues her perfect SEC mark, improving to 9-0 on the season, 18-3 overall. The Vols went on to clinch the match with wins at both the first and fifth positions. The Commodores look to regroup as they head for Athens and a date with the Goergia Bulldogs.
